Growth Hormone

Sermorelin

The gentlest growth hormone peptide: a bedtime shot for deeper sleep and better recovery. Mild on purpose, and the weakest of its class.

What it is

Sermorelin asks your pituitary for a little more of its own growth hormone at the time it would release it anyway, while you sleep. People notice deeper sleep in the first couple of weeks and better recovery after that. It is the safest way into GH peptides, and also the one that does the least.

The person Sermorelin fits is over 40, sleeping badly, waking up stiff, and nervous about anything stronger. It is the GH peptide that clinics have prescribed for years, so it is the one a cautious first-timer or a doctor's-office patient usually ends up on. It is the first 29 amino acids of your own growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH); your pituitary cannot tell the difference, so it releases a pulse of your own GH, under your own feedback controls. That is why it is gentle: you cannot push it far past what your body would make.

Timeline: sleep is first. Within one to two weeks most people fall asleep faster and wake up less, and some report vivid dreams. Recovery between workouts improves over weeks three to six. Skin, body composition and the 'I feel 35 again' effect, if they come, are a 10 to 12 week story and need training and protein to show up at all. What it will not do is build muscle or burn fat on its own; it raises IGF-1 modestly, and the number on the scale will not move because of Sermorelin. If you want a visible change in the mirror, this is the wrong tool.

People take it subQ in the belly fat, right before bed, on an empty stomach: 200 to 300 mcg to start, up to 500 mcg. A 5 mg vial at 250 mcg is 20 nights, so a 12-week run takes four to five vials. A break after 8 to 12 weeks is optional: it was prescribed daily for months and is gentle on the pituitary, so take a few weeks off only if the effect flattens or you want to recheck IGF-1. The mistake that wastes the most money is eating within an hour or two before the shot; carbs and fat blunt the GH pulse, so dessert at 10 and Sermorelin at 11 gets you nothing. The second mistake is running it solo and expecting CJC-1295 results. The third is quitting at week three because sleep is better but nothing else has changed yet.

Evidence: this is the GH peptide with the longest human track record. The brand version, Geref, was an approved medicine for years, used to diagnose and treat growth hormone deficiency in children, and was taken off the market for business reasons, not safety. Compounded Sermorelin has been prescribed at anti-aging clinics ever since. So the safety picture in people is well established; the evidence that it does anything dramatic for a healthy adult is thin, because its GH bump is real but small. The research-grade product you buy is not an approved medicine.

When to use something else: if you want the sleep and recovery effect with a bigger GH pulse, CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin is the standard upgrade and costs about the same. If belly fat is the goal, Tesamorelin has human trials for exactly that. If you will not inject, MK-677. Sermorelin alone is the right call only when gentle is the point. Skip it with a cancer history or an active pituitary problem, and get a fasting glucose first if you are prediabetic. Pair it with Ipamorelin and you have a cheaper, milder version of the classic stack.

What people use it for

Sleep and recovery

Some evidence

GHRH analogs increase slow-wave sleep in human studies, and deeper sleep is the first thing nearly everyone on Sermorelin reports. The recovery benefit follows from the sleep and the modest IGF-1 rise. It is the most reliable thing it does.

Growth hormone and IGF-1

Most evidence

That it raises GH is not in question; it was an approved diagnostic and treatment for GH deficiency in children for years. The pulse it produces in a healthy adult is modest and stays under your own feedback control, which is the source of both its safety and its limits.

Body composition and skin

Early days

Clinics have prescribed it for anti-aging for two decades, but there is no good trial showing a healthy adult gains muscle, loses fat or changes skin on Sermorelin alone. Users who report those changes are almost always also training, and the effect is small. Tesamorelin has that data for belly fat; Sermorelin does not.

What the research shows
  • Used for sleep, recovery, and a general anti-aging feel
  • Raises your own GH rather than replacing it
  • Gentle and well tolerated at common doses
  • Early human data; not approved for these uses
