GHRP-6
The growth hormone peptide that makes you hungry on purpose: 100 mcg before a meal and you will eat. Older and cheap, with more water.
What it is
GHRP-6 is for the person who cannot eat enough: the hard-gainer forcing down meals, someone recovering from illness or surgery with no appetite, or an older lifter who has lost the drive to eat. It raises your own growth hormone like ipamorelin does, but its signature is a wave of real hunger 20 to 30 minutes after the shot.
Three groups use it. Hard-gainers in a bulk who are tired of choking down calories, people coming back from an illness or a GLP-1 run whose appetite has not returned, and old-school GH peptide users who like its price. Nobody who is cutting should touch it; the hunger is relentless and it will undo a deficit. If you want the GH pulse without the appetite, that is what ipamorelin is for.
The hunger is immediate and reliable: 20 to 30 minutes after a fasted shot you will want to eat, and most people describe it as stomach-growling hunger, not a vague craving. That is the effect you can count on from dose one. The GH side builds like any secretagogue: deeper sleep in the first week or two, better recovery by week three or four, a bit more fullness in the muscles over 8 to 12 weeks when you are actually eating the surplus. Expect some water weight in the first two weeks, which can look like fast progress and is not. It will not add muscle by itself; it adds appetite and a modest GH lift, and the food does the rest.
100 mcg per shot is the saturation dose: more per shot adds side effects, not more GH, so you add shots rather than micrograms. Once a day before bed for recovery, or 100 mcg 20 to 30 minutes before two or three meals a day if eating is the goal, always on an empty stomach. Half-life is about 2 to 3 hours. A 5 mg vial is 50 shots, roughly 17 days at three a day, so an 8 to 12 week run at full frequency is four or five vials. Pair it with CJC-1295 no-DAC for a much bigger pulse if you also want the GH side. The common mistakes are dosing after a meal (you get the hunger but little GH) and stacking it with another GHRP, which just doubles the water retention. Run 8 to 12 weeks; steady ghrelin-receptor stimulation loses some punch over time, so when the sleep and recovery gains flatten, 2 to 4 weeks off is usually enough to bring them back.
The mechanism is well mapped in people: GHRP-6 was one of the first ghrelin-receptor peptides studied, and human studies confirm it releases GH and raises cortisol and prolactin a little at these doses, more than ipamorelin does. There is no trial of it for bulking or recovery in healthy adults. So it works as advertised for GH and hunger; the body-composition outcome is experience, not data. Not an approved medicine.
If you do not need the hunger, use ipamorelin or the CJC-1295 + ipamorelin pair; same GH effect, far cleaner. If you want appetite without injections, MK-677 does it orally, with its own water and blood-sugar baggage. GHRP-6 is the right pick only when the appetite is the point. Skip it with a cancer history, diabetes or blood pressure that is not controlled.
What people use it for
Appetite
Some evidenceGHRP-6 acts on the ghrelin receptor, the same one your empty stomach uses to signal hunger, and human studies show a clear increase in food intake after a dose. For users it is the most predictable effect on this site: real hunger within half an hour, every time. Useful in a bulk or a recovery, a problem on a cut.
Growth hormone release
Some evidenceHuman studies established GHRP-6 as a reliable GH secretagogue, with the response saturating around 100 mcg and amplified when a GHRH analog is given alongside. It also nudges cortisol and prolactin slightly, which ipamorelin does not. The GH pulse is real; what that does to a healthy adult's physique over a cycle has not been studied.
Recovery and sleep
Early daysAnimal work shows GHRP-6 has effects beyond GH, including tissue-protective signaling through a second receptor, CD36. In practice the deeper sleep and faster recovery people report track the GH pulse at bedtime. Treat these as consistent user experience with thin trial support.
How it works
Where GHRP-6 sits among the GH releasers
- Most appetite-boosting of the GH releasers
- Sometimes used to support eating during a bulk
- Animal and early human data; not an approved medicine
- Less popular when appetite is not the goal
How people use it
Safety, in brief
Things people sometimes notice
- Strong hunger 20 to 30 minutes after a shot
- A warm flush or brief head rush
- Water retention and puffier hands in the first two weeks
- A little redness where you inject
