GHRP-2
The hard-hitting growth hormone pulse for people who need to eat more. Stronger than Ipamorelin, with the hunger to show for it.
What it is
GHRP-2 fires a big, short pulse of your own growth hormone and, because it works through your hunger hormone's receptor, it makes you want to eat about an hour later. For a hard gainer that is the point. For someone trying to lean out it is the problem.
The person GHRP-2 is for: the skinny lifter who trains hard, cannot finish his meals and sleeps badly; the older athlete who found Ipamorelin too subtle and wants to feel the pulse; and anyone building the classic GHRH + GHRP bedtime stack who wants the stronger GHRP in it. It is one of the original growth hormone releasing peptides, a six-amino-acid chain that hits the ghrelin receptor in the pituitary and hypothalamus. Same receptor family as Ipamorelin and GHRP-6; GHRP-2 sits between them, harder than Ipamorelin, less ravenous than GHRP-6.
What you notice: a warm flush and sometimes a light head within ten minutes of the shot, then, about 45 minutes to an hour later, real hunger. If you dose at bedtime you sleep through it; if you dose in the morning you eat a big breakfast. Sleep deepens in the first week. Recovery between sessions improves by weeks two to four. Any change in lean mass is an eight-to-twelve-week project that depends entirely on you using the appetite to eat protein and train. On its own, GHRP-2 does not add muscle and does not burn fat; the GH pulse is big but short, under 90 minutes, and gone.
How people run it: 100 mcg subQ, fasted, one to three times a day, with the bedtime dose the one that matters most. Each pulse saturates at about 100 mcg, so a 300 mcg shot does not give you three times the GH; it gives you the same GH plus more cortisol and prolactin. Want more? Add a second 100 mcg pulse at another time, not a bigger one. Keep each shot at least 30 minutes from food in either direction; carbs and fat kill the pulse. A 5 mg vial is 50 doses, so twice a day is 25 days per vial. Pair it with CJC-1295 no-DAC in the same syringe and the pulse roughly multiplies rather than adds; that is the real way to use it. Run 8 to 16 weeks. Continuous ghrelin stimulation does lose some punch, so let the effect set the break: when the sleep and recovery gains flatten, 2 to 4 weeks off is usually enough to bring them back.
Evidence: better than most things here. GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) has been given to adults and children in clinical studies for months at a time, it is an approved diagnostic test for growth hormone deficiency in Japan, and the GH pulse it produces, and its synergy with GHRH, were characterized in people decades ago. What is not studied is the thing you want it for: no trial shows a healthy adult gaining muscle or sleeping better on GHRP-2. The pulse is proven; the outcome is inferred. It is not an approved medicine here.
Skip it if you are cutting, if you get anxious or have trouble with cortisol, or if you are prone to prolactin issues like puffy nipples. A cancer history rules out the whole class. In those cases Ipamorelin gives a cleaner pulse with none of the hunger and essentially no cortisol or prolactin, and CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin is the stack most people should start with. If you need to eat even more, GHRP-6 is hungrier still. If you will not inject, MK-677 covers the same receptor around the clock with the blood sugar cost that comes with that.
What people use it for
Growth hormone release
Some evidenceHuman studies from the 1990s onward show GHRP-2 produces a large GH pulse within 15 to 30 minutes of a dose, that it saturates at about 100 mcg, and that pairing it with a GHRH analog produces far more GH than either alone. It is used as a diagnostic test for GH deficiency in Japan. The release itself is not in doubt.
Appetite
Some evidenceIt works through the ghrelin receptor, so the hunger an hour after dosing is the mechanism, not a quirk. In studies it increased food intake, which is why it helps hard gainers and why it is wrong for a cut. GHRP-6 is stronger on appetite; Ipamorelin has almost none.
Sleep and recovery
Some evidenceDeeper sleep in the first week is the most common user report, consistent with a bigger nighttime GH pulse. No trial has measured recovery or sleep quality in healthy adults on GHRP-2 specifically, so this is inferred from mechanism and from the GHRH-analog sleep studies.
Cortisol and prolactin
Some evidenceAt doses above the 100 mcg saturation point, GHRP-2 raises cortisol, ACTH and prolactin, modestly and within normal ranges in the studies, but measurably. This is the reason not to take one big shot and the reason people who are anxious or prolactin-prone prefer Ipamorelin.
How it works
Where GHRP-2 sits among the GH releasers
- Used for recovery and to support eating
- Strong GH release, with more appetite than Ipamorelin
- Animal and early human data; not an approved medicine
- Often chosen when extra hunger is welcome, like during a bulk
How people use it
Safety, in brief
Things people sometimes notice
- Hunger about an hour after each shot, strong enough to plan meals around
- A warm flush or a light head in the first ten minutes
- Puffiness and water weight in the first couple of weeks, especially stacked with CJC-1295
- A small sting or redness at the injection site
