Staying safe
Things people sometimes notice
- A warm flush and a few hours of heightened interest after a shot
- A small sting or redness at the injection site
- A shift in cycle timing in women during the first month
- Nothing you can feel, which is common; the change is on labs
Stop and get help if (trouble breathing or swelling: call 911)
- A noticeable drop in libido or energy after weeks of frequent use, which means the system is being switched off
- Breast tenderness or a missed period that does not fit your pattern
- Hives or swelling of the face or lips
Talk to your doctor first, especially if
- You have a hormone-sensitive cancer or a history of one, because it raises estrogen and testosterone
- You are on TRT, hormone replacement or hormonal birth control: it will do little, and the combination muddies any labs
- You are pregnant or trying to be; the fertility medicine use is supervised for a reason
- You have PCOS or an irregular cycle, since LH changes can make it worse before anyone knows what is happening
